Citadel Leadership Day 2025 on Wednesday, October 22nd, had The Citadel Cadets partnering with Veterans On Deck for a day of teamwork, service, and leadership development.

On Wednesday Oct 22, eight Citadel cadet volunteers came to the Harborage Marina to help with maintenance on all three boats as part of their Leadership Day event. Their motto for Leadership Day is “Leadership is about serving others”. The goals achieved from 9AM to noon included cleaning and polishing DD214, decluttering Caithness, and sanding the teak aboard First Light and then washing down the boat. It was a delightful morning. The work aboard First Light occurred at the Charleston Yacht Club, where she was temporarily moored.
Following lunch at the marina all three boats participated in Wednesday’s afternoon sail. All together we had 25 participants with eight aboard DD214, ten aboard Caithness, and seven aboard First Light. This was also the maiden therapeutic sail of First  Light. Those aboard the three boats included the eight Citadel cadets and also USN Master Chief Navy Seal (retired) Edward Byers, a Congressional Medal of Honor Recipient who was speaking at the Citadel that day.
